The National Honor Society (NHS) is the nation's premier organization established to recognize outstanding high school students across the United States. More than just an honor roll, NHS serves to recognize those students who have demonstrated excellence in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service, and character. The organization was established in 1921 and today has over one million members in high school chapters across the states. Membership in the Schoolhouse Preparatory chapter is an honor bestowed upon a student.
Selection for membership is based on outstanding scholarship, moral character, leadership, and service. The candidate must be either a Sophomore, Junior, or Senior, maintain a cumulative scholastic GPA of 3.8 and demonstrate a minimum of 3 Quarters of Honor Roll per year.
